This concert featured the premieres of ten new works, written for Seoul National University performance students by University of Hawaii composition students, and was the culmination of a months-long collaborative project between the two universities. Composition students from UH were paired with performers from SNU in September, and spent last semester creating new works in long-distance consultation with their performers. For many composers, this is their first piece for a Korean instrument. The chance to receive ongoing feedback from performers during the creative process was invaluable, and the results will be heard for the first time tonight. We at UH are excited to welcome our SNU colleagues, and look forward to future collaborations.
